The Hartshuis in Vredefort is a late-20th-century building on 19 De Wet Street that has served various roles (originally a regional bank, later a hairdresser) and today operates as a communal home for vulnerable pensioners and disabled people.

 

Today the Hartshuis operates as a communal care home and lodging run by the Young World Educare NPO. It provides 24-hour support, three meals daily, medical aid, and assisted living to SASSA pensioners and disabled persons.

 

It has become a community hub for elder care and social outreach. The Young World Educare team organizes events involving local churches, schools, and donors. Educationally, the Hartshuis functions as a learning site for volunteer programs. Culturally, the name Hartshuis (Heart House) reflects its mission of compassion.
