Touching Africa

Building a better Africa together – Starting in our own communities  

What if solving  Africa's greatest challenges did not begin with one organisation, one government department, or one wealthy donor, but with a network of ordinary people bringing their skills, experience, businesses, ideas, faith, and passion together around a shared vision.

Touching Africa is a registered South African non-profit organisation (NPO), public benefit organisation (PBO), Christ-centred movement and collaborative network that connects people, businesses, organisations, professionals, congregations, and communities to work together in bringing practical, sustainable change to Africa.

At the heart of Touching Africa is a desire to see God's Kingdom reflected in every sphere of society, particularly in the workplace. We believe that our work, businesses and professions are powerful platforms to serve people with integrity, excellence and compassion, demonstrating Kingdom values through practical action. Guided by the principles of Integrity, Sustainability and Batho Pele (People First), Touching Africa develops and supports initiatives across multiple sectors. Current projects include:

• Vredefort Regional Development, promoting sustainable tourism, community development and local economic growth.
• Work 4 A Living - equipping unemployed individuals with workplace readiness, life skills and employment opportunities.
• Invest Rural - unlocking rural agricultural potential through sustainable farming, water development and job creation.
• Women 4 Housing 4 Women (W4H4W) - supporting women-headed households by improving safe, dignified housing and creating greater stability, security and hope for vulnerable families.
• Water and infrastructure initiatives, including Metsi A Batho and partnerships that improve access to reliable water supplies.
• Training and research through the Touching Africa Research and Training Institute.
• Environmental and catchment restoration projects.
• Youth, family and community development programmes.

Touching Africa’s involvement in Vredefort

While Touching Africa has a growing footprint across South Africa and the African continent, one of its key focus areas is the Vredefort region.

Touching Africa is working alongside local stakeholders to unlock opportunities that benefit both residents and visitors while preserving the area's unique character.

Our vision extends beyond economic development. We believe Vredefort has the potential to become a spiritual capital - a place where people can encounter healing, restoration and hope. Through initiatives such as Cornerstone and Hartshuis, together with other community partnerships and development projects, we are helping create an environment where individuals, families and leaders can find renewal, whether they visit for a short retreat or choose to become part of the community for the long term.

Although our vision reaches across Africa, we believe meaningful transformation always starts locally. Whether you are a farmer, engineer, teacher, business owner, retiree, entrepreneur, church leader, artisan or volunteer, there is a place for you. We invite everyone who shares a passion for positive change to bring their ideas, skills and opportunities to the table. Changing Africa is not the responsibility of a few extraordinary people, it begins with ordinary people who are willing to work together, one relationship, one project and one community at a time.
