In Loving Memory of Louis Olivier

Louis Olivier was a true windmill expert, with an extensive knowledge of windmills and the skills required to keep them working. For many years, farmers from Vredefort, Potchefstroom, Kroonstad, the Vaal Triangle and surrounding areas regularly called on Louis and his son, Gertjie, whenever a windmill on a farm needed attention or repair.

Louis was not only respected for his knowledge and craftsmanship, but also for the warmth and kindness he showed to the people around him.

He was a good and dedicated bowls player and a much-loved member of the bowling community, particularly at the Vredefort Bowling Club. He was well known and appreciated by fellow bowlers in Koppies, Kroonstad and Parys.

Louis was a valued teammate who enjoyed the friendship and camaraderie that came with the sport. His presence on the bowling green, his friendship and his contribution to his teams will be greatly missed by his fellow teammates and bowling friends.

To his family, Louis was so much more than a skilled craftsman and a friend to many. He was a devoted husband to Elaine, a loving father to Gertjie and Louis, and a proud grandfather. His family was at the heart of his life, and the love he shared with them will remain a lasting part of his legacy.

Louis touched many lives through his work, his friendships and his involvement in the community. Whether standing beside a windmill on a farm or enjoying a game of bowls with his teammates, he was a familiar and valued presence. His knowledge, humour, kindness, friendship and sporting spirit will be deeply missed by his family, friends, the farming community and his many bowling friends across the region.

Rest peacefully, Louis. You will be greatly missed by your family, your teammates and all who had the privilege of knowing you. Your memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved you.
